There were a few lucky youth hunters over the MEA weekend. Kylie Delage, daughter of Jason and Sarah Kotrba, Goodridge, turned 11 years old on Thursday, October 15th, and also shot her first deer that morning! Kylie’s 6-point buck was taken about 6 miles east of Goodridge, near her home. Blake Rychlock was pretty excited about shooting his first buck over the youth hunting weekend! He is the son of Jeremy and Elaine Rychlock, rural Grygla, and is 10 years old. The weekend was open for youth, ages 10-15, to hunt alongside an adult mentor. Sheldin Sundberg shot himself a nice-sized doe on Friday evening, October 16th. He is the son of Robert and Kari Sundberg, rural Grygla, and is in 5th grade at Grygla Elementary. Sheldin put some venison steaks on the supper table over the weekend and plans to make some jerky with the remaining meat. Lewis Jones also bagged one with horns over the weekend! Lewis is the son of David and Lori Jones, Gatzke, and is a fourth grader at Grygla Elementary School; this was his first hunt. The smile on these kids’ faces are priceless, aren’t they?!
