Red Lake County Rebel Boys Track and Field’s Gerald Melin broke the school record in the high jump with a jump of 6’0 on Tuesday at the Bagley Track and Field meet. The jump of 6’0 broke the previous record of 5’10 set by Ryan Melby in 1993.
Quilts were on display at Salem and Zion that the ladies of the Oklee Lutheran Parish made this winter. They were blessed on April 25th services. They made 77 quilts and have been sent off to various places. A job well done by the ladies.
"It's been a long journey, but we did the things that needed to be done,” Walz said in noon remarks about the coming wind down of restrictions due to Covid.
Jim DuChamp from Plummer was honored for 30 years as a volunteer Firearm Safety Instructor. He has shared his passion as an outdoor sportsman, with the importance of safety to generations of young people in our area.

RLCC High School planned to hold the commencement program for the Class of 2021 on Friday, May 28th, 2021 at 5:30pm in the high school gym in Oklee. On May 28th the Minnesota COVID restrictions for indoor gatherings will change. This change will allow the general public to attend the 2021 Graduation Ceremony at RLCC.
Wednesday morning was awards day at RLCC in Oklee. Alice Jobe presented Tristyn  Ferguson with the Plummer Senior Citizen scholarship for $100. Jerome Bakke gave out certificates for the Legion for the Scholarship and Citizen’s award also, for the Auxiliary.
The senior’s class motto is “Stay Positive, Test Negative.” The class flower is the White Lily. Class colors are emerald green and white. Good luck to all the graduating seniors!
What beautiful weather. It seems that the fishing opener was a great success this year with warmer weather than usual and the snow stopped for the opener, unlike some other years. I hope everyone was able to fill out this year. 
We still haven’t been blessed with rain this month. The clouds went over and we could see many others got showers, while we are still dry.

Local Artist Jesse Olson is inspired by nature. The birds have always been calling…it just took him all these years to realize…his calling. He is the son of Teresa Benson, manager of the Oklee Cafe.
Harry D. Shetterly Technician 5th Grade Medical Detachment, 112th Infantry Regiment story was the Memorial Day feature. Harry was born November 24, 1915 in Peru, Iowa the second child of Daniel R. and Bessie Shetterly. In the early 1920’s the family moved to northwestern Minnesota  to a farm north of Oklee. The 1940 federal census shows him living on the farm with his parents and siblings, Howard, Wilma, Bob and Ben. His older sister Milly had married Orlo Melby. Harry married a young woman from the south of Oklee, Lorraine Parsley.
The senior class recently nominated the 2021 yearbook to Suzie Gunderson on Awards Day May 12. Brody Moen presented the award to Mrs. Gunderson in front of the school. 
We are ecstatic that we got some rain. Mother Nature was kind. Many fields are under water Northwest of us. So we can thank our lucky stars that we had a temperate amount of water from the sky.

On a cool evening for the end of May, families and friends gathered in the Red Lake County Central High School Gymnasium, nicely decorated for this special occasion. Four pillars draped with green material and white flowers made a grand entrance for the 24 seniors.
The Red Lake County Central Music Department performed their Spring Concert Virtually on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, on Garden Valley Television Channel 35.
