Sandra Tougas was interviewed by RLCC Newspaper staff. She is a volunteer First Responder with the Oklee ambulance. Since Sandra is a volunteer, she does not get paid but she says,” Being a First Responder has been a rewarding experience.”
February 19th, the RLC Rebels boy’s basketball team hosted at Oklee and played up against the Bears, the varsity team coming out on top with a score of 83-53.
Northwest Regional Library is adding 11 new Chromebook Laptops into circulation! These laptops run on Google’s Chrome Operating System.
St. Bernard’s Church in Thief River Falls had their 1st Lenten Fish Fry after Ash Wednesday, on Friday evening. They had drive-through only.

“Skip to Serve”, formally known as “Jump Rope for Heart”, is a fundraiser the students of RLCC Elementary take part in to raise money for our local emergency services (Plummer Fire & Rescue, as well as Oklee Fire & Oklee Ambulance).
Northwest Regional Library has begun to offer Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots for Checkout! Mobile Hotspots allow internet connections anywhere they can get a signal on the Sprint Network.
What nice weather we have today. It is supposed to get up into the high 50’s. Enjoy it get out and walk around in this abundance of warmth.

Gov. Tim Walz announce on Friday that his is pulling back on some of Minnesota’s remaining Covid-19 restrictions, almost a year after Covid-19 restrictions first were implemented to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
Dominica Bernstein, daughter of Mitch and Krista Bernstein of Oklee, MN has committed to run for the St. Thomas track and field team.
The weather has been good. We missed the bullet last week, the storm went south of us. We do need rain but snow is not what we want for moisture right now. Let’s hope that we get some rain but not buckets of it, though we are behind in sub soil moisture.

A year ago, Red Lake County Central Schools was anticipating three residencies with artists in the schools teaching them about writing, painting and music, then COVID became our reality. Now, a year later, the residencies are happening. They look different than first anticipated. Students will now meet the artists through in person Zoom meetings and recorded lessons. The Zoom meetings will help the artists provide instruction and students to experience interaction. Creativity is happening!
Well, Spring has sprung and most of us are happy for that. The snow is almost all gone except way back in tree lines. Wow, that is almost unheard of here. But be aware April isn’t gone yet and we have had some tough April snows, as well a few in May.
Some around town have started yard work. The weather is nice, maybe a cool some days, but not bad.

Tyrell and Natalie Hamrum, Brooks, are Red Lake County’s representatives in the 2021 Red River Valley Emerging Leadership Program. This dedicated couple stepped up to learn and develop leadership skills in a new way, as the program transitioned to an online and hybrid model of learning during the pandemic.
Red Lake County Central Mustangs hosted the Sacred Hearts Eagles in Oklee. The varsity team won with the score of 46 to 31.
Wow, the weather is getting warmer fast this year. I can’t remember when a spring jacket was used until late in April. This year the spring jacket is getting a workout. Whoopee.
