Tis the Season for Celebrations!

Many treats for Christmas!
A couple of businesses in Oklee held open houses and the Senior Site held a Scandinavian Day as a fund raiser in the past week.
On December 8th, the Oklee Senior Site members held a Scandinavian Day the the Community Hall. They served up some very delicious Scandinavian favorites such as lefse, herring, rommegrot, rosettes, fattigmann, krumkake, and many other good treats. The event was a free will offering and over 70 people attended the event.
On December 15th, there were two events held in Oklee celebrating the Christmas season.
At Security State Bank, an Open House was held. Customers received a nice gift of a block notepad and a covered scissor. Treats were abundant and laid out nicely on two tables filled with cookies, meat & cheese trays, herring, lefse, and much more. All day long, folks from around the area stopped by for a treat, a little visiting and a chance to win the ham from Security State Bank.
Also on December 15th, the newest business in Oklee held an Open House and gave tours of the Oklee Inn. There was coffee and treats and lots of visiting before and after the touring of the newly designed building.
This new venture is owned by Cliff Melby, Kelly Lundeen, Rick Dulka and Quinten Nelson. Since the Freedom Living Center was unable to continue serving Oklee as a Senior Assisted living service, the owners have been trying to find another useful need for the community of Oklee.
They have been renting out an apartment and decided to see it they could get more use from the beautiful building. They hit upon a mix of things, that may make it work well for the Oklee and surrounding area. They are now open as a hotel and long term housing and are trying to get some other businesses to come use their facitilies. Ideas flowing are a exercise room, hair salon, massages, educational functions, and family reunions or other meeting functions.
The one business that has started operating out of the Oklee Inn is Terri's Eisebrener's Tailor Shop. She will also be the hostess for the Oklee Inn.
Watch for more information in the future on the events and businesses coming soon.
