“Skip to Serve”, formally known as “Jump Rope for Heart”, is a fundraiser the students of RLCC Elementary take part in to raise money for our local emergency services (Plummer Fire & Rescue, as well as Oklee Fire & Oklee Ambulance). The funds are split evenly between the three departments and used to update emergency equipment to allow them both to better serve their communities during times of need.
Students collect pledges or donations and spend two weeks completing a jump rope unit in Mr. Larson’s Physical Education class. In the past two years RLCC students have raised over $13,000! All students who participate are guaranteed a prize and depending upon the amount of money each student raises they have the opportunity to earn extra prizes. The student who collects the most in donations is awarded a television and the opportunity to receive a ride to school in a fire truck. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, last year’s winner, Isabelle Paradis was not able to collect on her ride to school, so she joined this year’s winner, Ava Kolstoe. Sheriff, Mitch Bernstein escorted the fire truck with lights and sirens as the entire student body greeted the girls with cheers. Great job, Isabelle and Ava!
