Great entertainment at the Red Lake County Fair
Mary Hall
One of the events at the fair on Sunday was The Mary Hall Nostalgic Novelty Show. Mary travels the mid-west singing in nightclubs during the 1970’s. She has opened for many singers throughout her years. She has been on live TV and radio and even recorded at RCA studios in Nashville. She has five albums being sold around the world and makes many live performances under her label, “miowne” records. She is known for being able to relate to the audience. Music is what she loves, she can sing nearly every style of music.
Flemming Fold Family
On Saturday, The Flemming Fold Family played in Oklee at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.
They were a versatile family music group from Southern Minnesota. They performed a wide variety of high-energy, toe-tapping music that included Bluegrass, Country, Old-time, Gospel, and Alpine folk music with yodeling.
This loving family group consisted of parents, Troy and Sandra Flemming, and their two beautiful daughters. Troy, aka "The Yodelmeister," yodels with such proffesionalism that audiences do assume he is from Austria or Germany. Sandra is an accomplished singer/songwriter and a lively piano accordionist. Their 13 year-old daughter plays both mandolin and fiddle and sings, while her 12 year-old sister sings and plays the upright bass. Although Troy's energetic, soaring yodels cause quite a sensation whenever he performs, he is often upstaged by his daughters with their youthful charm, mastery of their instruments, and beautiful vocal harmonies!!!
This multi-talented family has been featured on the radio and national television several times, has performed in more than 900 concerts to date, and has fans all around the world. The Flemming Fold provided a wholesome family entertainment for our Fair this year!!!
