Mr. Randy Huie from Red Lake County Central High School was selected as the Minnesota State Student Council Advisor of the Year at the Minnesota State Student Council Convention and Banquet held April 6-8 in Medford, MN.
The state of Minnesota is divided into 10 Student Council divisions. Each division selects a Student Council Advisor of the Year at their Spring Summit. The State Advisor of the Year is chosen from these 10 Division Advisors of the Year. This year Huie was chosen as the Northwest Division Advisor of the Year.
The Minnesota State Student Council Advisor of the Year goes to someone “who has gone above and beyond the daily roles and responsibilities of advising the Student Council. This person serves as a mentor to student leaders in ways that allow them to grow in their education and careers.”
Huie’s involvement in Student Council began when he was at Denfield High School in Duluth, MN when he was on the council for six years. During his senior year, he was elected president of the Denfield Student Council. When he began teaching in Oklee he had interest in being involved with the Student Council at the school. He now has advised RLCC’s Student Council for 21 years.
Congratulations to Randy Huie for being named the Minnesota State Student Council Advisor of the Year.
