Hello Clearwater County 4-H members! My name is Kayla Nyegaard and I just started as your Interim 4-H program coordinator. I am very excited to meet all of you and get to know you! I’m a third generation Extension employee, both my grandfather and father were involved in Extension for many years. I was in 4-H for 9 years and was very involved in many areas of the program. Dog, Horse, Dairy and Dairy Goat were my main project areas of interest. I also participated in local, regional, state and national 4-H opportunities. I was a Clearwater County Ambassador and a Key Award recipient. I was also a Sandhill 4-H Camp Counselor, a MN State Ambassador, as well as MN State Arts In participant. At the National level, I attended Citizenship Washington Focus and the National 4-H Dairy Conference. This conference is what brought me to my collegiate and professional aspirations.
After high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin Madison and earned a Bachelor of Science in Dairy Science. The National 4-H Dairy Conference is where I realized all of the different possibilities within the dairy industry. I was involved in the industry for about five years after college. I lived and worked on dairy farms in New Zealand and Australia for a year, focusing on reproduction management of the lactating herd and heifers. Since returning home, I have been involved in the reproduction, milk quality, sanitation and herd management areas of the dairy industry. Without my experiences in 4-H, none of that would’ve been possible.
Life has brought me back to Clearwater County 4-H and I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunities I will have to work with all of you. Thank you so much for welcoming me back with open arms! I can’t wait to get started, feel free to reach out to me for any reason!
