Lt. Governor Flanagan Ducks Debates

After an unserious response to Craig’s debate proposal, silence continues from Flanagan

Minneapolis, MN – Congresswoman Angie Craig’s Campaign released a statement in response to the Lt. Governor’s attempts to hide. Craig has proposed one televised debate, one radio debate, and a debate at Farmfest. No debates have taken place yet in the DFL primary for Minnesota’s open U.S. Senate seat. Congresswoman Craig and Lt. Governor Flanagan both appeared at an Education Minnesota forum in January. Last week, Craig’s campaign sent a letter to Flanagan’s campaign asking the Lieutenant Governor to reconsider and to debate before the DFL convention similar to candidates in competitive DFL primaries in Congressional District 2 and Congressional District 6.

“It's clear the Lt. Governor hopes to run out the clock on talking about her record – not showing up to work as Lt. Governor and on the Minneapolis school board, and accepting millions of dollars in corporate money as chair of the DLGA from the pharma, tobacco, oil and gas industries, and an ICE detention center contractor. We hope the Lt. Governor reconsiders and allows all Democrats – not just those in friendly spaces – to hear directly from her,” said Antoine Givens, spokesperson for Angie Craig for Minnesota.
