Kriel honored at Six Star Conference banquet

Representing the Goodridge/Grygla-Gatzke Charger’s basketball team, and being honored at the Six Star Conference banquet was Blaine Kriel, who is a junior at Goodridge High School.
The Six Star Conference consists of Badger/Greenbush-Middle River, Goodridge/Grygla-Gatzke, Kittson County Central, Northern Freeze, Stephen-Argyle Central, and Warren-Alvarado-Oslo.
UMC Men’s Basketball Coach Dan Weisse was the guest speaker at the Six Star Boys Basketball All-Conference banquet held recently at Melody’s Cafe in Warren. Coach Weisse emphasized the value of maintaining strong character both on and off the basketball court and in life after high school. Coach Weisse described what he and his coaching staff look for in recruits and how those same characteristics are highly sought after by future employers as well. He also challenged those in attendance to strive to be high achievers who are consistently positive.
Co-champions of the conference were Kittson County Central and the Northern Freeze. Chad Kujava of Kittson County Central was named Coach of the Year. Senior Cole Dahl of the Northern Freeze received the Jay Sorenson Memorial Scholarship Award.
