Brian Svor has done a lot of serious hunting in his life. He is an avid bow and rifle hunter. When he was younger, he hunted grouse and bear but now spends his hunting time watching for that “tirdy-point” whitetail buck and is a true enthusiast. He also loves to fish.
Brian works for the Clearwater County Highway Department. He and his wife Elizabeth (Brekke) live in Bemidji where she is an operating room nurse at Sanford Medical Center. Brian and Elizabeth regularly visit with friends and her parents (Robb and Patty Brekke) south of Gully.
Brian is a talented wood worker and decided to make a “Cornhole Game” to donate to the Lund Ladies Aid for the upcoming annual Fall Market. “Cornhole” is pretty much like a beanbag game. It is a fun lawn or garage game for all ages. The game will be a Silent Auction item at the Hunters Supper Event in Gully on Deer Hunting opener, Nov. 9.
Brian is modest in saying “My wood working skill really hasn't been too much, but really like doing it and making things look nice. I'm hoping these boards will do well in Gully, it is a fun game.”
The Cornhole Game will be a great thing to bid on for yourself, with funds raised going to the Lund Ladies Aid. It would be a great family Christmas Gift, or a really nice wedding gift… or maybe you should have it at your business, or deer hunting shack? It’s portable… so you can haul it along to the lake.
In case you are wondering, it looks like Cornhole Games (of the mass produced kind) run about $200-$250 at sporting goods places etc. This game is high quality handmade one with a big buck and friendly log cabin design and “Gully Minnesota” on it to keeping you oriented in the world.
Plan to make your bid on Nov. 9 and stick out the competition until you are the proud owner of this very cool game made and donated by Brian Svor.
The funds raised at the Fall Market on Nov. 9th will go to the Lund Ladies Aid which plays an essential part of the local community.
This market will feature fresh produce, preserves, amazing handicrafts and baked goods. Shoppers: come ready to bid on some exciting items.
Those with items to donate for the Market should let the Ladies Aid know and make arrangements to drop it off before Mid-Day on Sat. Nov 9.
Serving for the Hunters Supper will be from 5-8 pm with meal funds to go toward operating costs of Lund Church.
The Gully-Trail Parish Youth Group will host their annual Gift Basket Raffle. Tickets will be $1 and you drop them at the basket of your choice & hope for a win.
