Firefighter Geoff Satre talked to the kids about what equipment the firefighters use and the different things the department helps with.

Firefighter Mike Jelle shows some of the equipment that is carried on the Fire/Rescue 1st Response truck, including the extrication ‘jaws of life’ equipment.

A new piece of equipment was just purchased, for approximately $15,000, with a grant from the Beltrami County PILT Funds. It is called a ‘Lucas Device’ and it does chest compressions during CPR, giving equal, uninterrupted CPR. The picture shows it on Firefighter Richard Davenport; it is NOT used on a conscious person, only on dummies for training purposes.

The department put together a basketball team to participate in the Grygla Centennial basketball game at GHS; staffed the fire hall for Halloween Trick-Or-Treaters; Fire prevention demonstrations at ECFE.
