Connie Bishop speaks at MHS

Red Lake County Central High School’s chapter of the Minnesota Association of Honors Societies induction ceremony had Connie Bishop as its guest speaker. The event was held Friday, October 23 in the RLCC gym. She focused on the four pillars of MAHS.
The first pillar is leadership. Leadership can be displayed in many ways, is an influence and it portrays who you are. Scholarship is the second pillar which includes doing your best. Bishop also commented, “The only person you should try to be better is the person you were yesterday.”
The third pillar is service, reaching out and serving others. She encouraged students to get involved in their community and school and to take pride in helping others. Character is the fourth and last pillar. Bishop said to remain true to yourself, help others, be proud of who you are and added “if you want to be treated right, treat others right.”
A couple of additional highlights in her speech were “always remember where you come from” and that “money can’t buy good manners.”
Bishop is a former elementary teacher at RLCC Elementary School. She retired from teaching in 2014.
