Clearbrook-Gonvick School holds spelling bee contest January 24

The Clearbrook-Gonvick district spelling bee was held on Thursday, January 24, at the school gym. Participants were winners of the grades 5-8 classroom spelling bees. 
Those competing were Logan Westrum, Aleeyah Molden, Aliyah Ballad, Ryan Bodensteiner, Abby Engen, Emma Fawver, Matthew Rankin, Kesli Kalenak, and Landon Gazelka. The competition lasted for 21 rounds. The winners were: Abby Engen, third place; Ryan Bodensteiner, second place; and earning first place was Landon Gazelka. 
Gazelka will complete in the regional spelling bee held in Thief River Falls on February 6. The top four spellers from this competition will advance to the multi-regional spelling bee in Fergus Falls on February 19, with a chance to advance to the final competition in Washington, D.C. 
The local spelling bee is organized by English teacher Michelle DeVries and was judged by Sharon Johnson and Tracy Imle.
