Owning and running your own business is part of the American Dream, and the City of McIntosh is willing to help someone achieve that.
At a recent Community meeting, held on Monday, October 30th, Mayor Toby Strom offered the city’s newly acquired property, the building which recently was home to the B-B Café, for one dollar. Yes, a single buck. This not only buys you the building, but the remaining kitchen equipment, fixtures and furnishings as well.
There is no catch, if you have a desire to operate a café, or some sort of business out of the building, for a one dollar bill, a sound and secure business plan and financial resources or backing to make a go of it, there is a great opportunity for you waiting in McIntosh.
The café isn’t quite a turn-key operation, the new potential owners will have to see what needs to be done with the building since it was closed and what it will take to open the doors. There are necessary licenses and permits that will be needed, and upgrades or changes to the building are a possibility.
Members of the Community who were at the meeting were excited for the prospects of the café re-opening or a diversified version of a café. There are a lot of possibilities, as one member of our Community stated, “It is kind of exciting, because someone can re-invent it.”
If you have an interest in becoming a new business owner in McIntosh, bring your plans to the City office and if the Council agrees, you can have the American Dream for a buck.
