Area Veteran’s honored with Quilts of Valor

Last Thursday, November 11th community members gathered at Win-E-Mac School and McIntosh Senior Living to honor local veterans for their service.
All Veteran’s were honored for our rights to be free.
While honoring all Veteran’s for their sacrifices, the local group of ladies who make quilts for the veteran’s honored Clifford Fischer, Bruce Benbo and Dean Salveson for their service with a special quilt. 
At Win-E-Mac School Bruce Benbo and Dean Salveson received their speicial quilts that were sewn by Vicky Strom and Ilene Reireson and quilted by Kathryn Carver.
Bruce Benbo served in the Army from May 1968 to May 1970. He was in the Infantry with a rank of Spec. 4. Bruce served in Vietnam from November 1968 to November 1969 and was also in Cambodia. Cu Chi was his division headquarters and he worked out of a Battalion Support Base which was next to MeKong Delta and west of Saigon.
Bruce went on search and destroy missions and ambushes. He mas contact with enemy forces many times and saw many killed and seriously wounded on both sides. 
Dean Salveson was an US Army Ranger and served our country in Vietnam from August 1970 until August 1971 as an Infantry Recon Platoon Leader. 
At McIntosh Senior Living Garnett Aanenson had the honor to present a Quilt of Valor to Clifford Fischer. 
Clifford was born in North Dakota and lived in Browerville, Minnesota when he enlisted in the US Army on November 16, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
Clifford took his Medical Tech Course at Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver, Colorado to prepare him for his position as a Medic attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant when he was in the Army.
Clifford received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, Two Overseas Service Bars, and a Good Conduct Medal while he was in the Army.
Clifford was honorably dischared on October 11, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
