After 17 years, Yo-Hawn’s Bar & Grill will be closing its doors

When one door closes, another one opens…and that’s especially true for Darell and Karen Severts as they get closer to knocking on retirement’s door! But to fully do that and enjoy their golden years, and officially retire, that means shutting the doors to the ever-popular Yo-Hawn’s Bar & Grill in Grygla.
It’ll be a bittersweet day come Saturday, December 18th.
As mentioned, it’s been over 17 years since the Severts’ have owned the local bar & grill, providing many fun memories for those near and far. No matter the party or celebration, you could count on Yo-Hawn’s to serve some great food and cold drinks. “It’ll be nice,” says Karen Severts, of her upcoming retirement. “But I will miss the people and the satisfaction of serving good, homemade food. Also just being a place that people enjoyed swinging by,” she added.
Over the next couple of weeks, you can swing by Yo-Hawn’s for a few more meals and a happy hour or two. One last grocery order will be placed this week so the full menu will remain but will be limited as the 18th approaches. No more beer or liquor orders will be placed but watch for some upcoming discounts in the off-sale area.
Yo-Hawn’s Bar & Grill is currently for sale, though not officially listed. The Severts’ are hoping to find a buyer to take over the business. They’re also hoping to sell their home in rural Grygla and eventually move to the lake full-time; that’s the end goal. They’ve recently built a beautiful retirement home on Island Lake near Lengby. In addition to enjoying some quieter moments lakeside, they are both excited to do a bit more traveling and spend quality time with family, including all of their grandchildren, who reside in Grygla, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
We wish them all the best on their next endeavor. Yo-Hawn’s has been a big part of Grygla for the last 17 years, providing friendly, fun service. Bring the family in for a fun supper out – swing by with your friends – get in your last Yo-Hawn’s visit before 1am, December 18th.
The hours are as follows: Sunday/Monday: Closed, Tuesday-Saturday: Open 11am-1am, with kitchen closing at 9:30pm.
Best wishes, Darell and Karen! For more information on this property for sale, you can call Yo-Hawn’s at 218-294-6197.
