4-H Ice Fishing Trip to Lake of the Woods

A group of (25) youth and adult 4-H Members participated in a one-day ice fishing trip to “Ballard’s Resort” at Lake of the Woods on Sunday, January 20, 2019.   The Red Lake County 4-H Leader’s Council contributed three-fourths of the cost and the member one-fourth.  

The resort brought the group out in heated bombardiers that took them out to their heated fish house.  The six fish houses were heated and holes drilled by the resort. 

The resort guides helped out throughout the day.  They would check in with each house to make sure that everything was going good.  For some, this was their first experience at ice fishing.  The fish were biting!  A couple of the houses even filled their legal limit of fish.  

At the end of the day, the guides picked up everyone and brought them back to the resort.  They cleaned and packaged all of the fish that the group had caught for the day.  Everyone had a great time!
