4-H After School Programs
The Red Lake County 4-H After School Programs meets four times a month from November through April. They meet at J.A. Hughes Elementary School, Plummer School, and Red Lake Falls Community Hall. There are two 4-H After School Groups that meet each month. (The 4-H Cloverbud Program is designed specifically for children in grades K-2 and the other after school group is the 4-H Hands-On After the Bell Project Club for grades K-6).
Leading the 4-H After School Program is Sharon Weiss, 4-H Program Coordinator along with volunteer help. The youth participate in educational activities; learn the 4-H pledge, have a snack, and do a recreational activity. They all have fun while learning!
Participants develop a positive self-concept, develop competencies in life skills for self-understanding, social interaction, decision making, learning to learn, and mastering physical skills, gain knowledge in sciences, literature, and the arts through the experiential learning process, develop positive attitudes about learning, develop on-going relationships with caring adults and older youth who serve as positive role models, explore family and community relationships, and develop the understanding and appreciation for social and cultural diversity.
