The Grygla Firemen cooked up yet another excellent supper for the community on Sunday, March 29th. The annual supper was held at the Grygla Community Center in Grygla and consisted of an “all you can eat” menu with roast beef, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, coleslaw, corn and all the fixings. To top off the delicious meal, the Grace Lutheran Church LYO kids served ice cream treats! Fire Chief Bob Thompson estimated the crew served about 380 people.
During the past year, the Grygla Fire Department has responded to 63 calls. This included 16 wildland/grass fires, 3 vehicle/equipment fires, 2 structure fires, 6 fire/CO2 alarm/service calls, 5 auto accidents, 1 ATV accident, 1 farm machinery accident and 29 medical calls.
With your generous donations, the department has been able to make improvements to their equipment, attend trainings and maintain the Fire Hall. The Grygla Fire Department serves 6 townships in Marshall County, 8 townships in Beltrami County, and provides mutual aid (when requested) to the surrounding departments in Goodridge, Middle River and Roseau.
Door prize winners from the Firemen’s supper were: Toy Fire Truck: Shay Jacobson, Goodridge; Stuffed Buddy Bear: Jens Oslund; MagLite: Ron Engelstad and Adam Fisher; Fire Extinguisher: Keith Sparby and Lois Hylland; CO2 detector: Lon Englund, Sherry Sorenson, Gavin Nordby and Dacotah Byklum.
