The Sustainble Sheep and Fiber Community of Northern Minnesota is sponsoring Fiber Gathering Under the Pines event. It will be held Friday, January 9 from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Clearwater Life Center (226 Elm St. Gonvick, MN). These are informal events designed to teach various fiber and techniques, share projects and enjoy meeting new people. Bring your wheel in working order, or other fiber-related tools.
The Sons of Norway, Granlund Lodge #240, will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, January 8th, at 2:00 PM. This is an afternoon meeting. Members are invited to bring their "after-Christmas treats" to share. The meeting includes planning for the 2026 programs, and all are encouraged to attend with ideas to help make this year extra special for members and guests. Mark your calendar for Thursday, January 8th, at 2:00 PM for the Sons of Norway meeting at the Embassy Center in Fosston. March for Life marches planned
The local Chapter of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life will sponsor a Walk for Life in Fosston on Saturday, January 17. Meet at the southwest corner of Hugo’s parking lot in Fosston at 10:15 a.m. to begin walking. Marchers will walk to the Embassy Community Center where Dr. Steve Gander, Polk County State Representative, will address the group. A light lunch will be served at 11:00 a.m. On Saturday, January 14, marchers for life will be meeting at the Clearwater County Courthouse in Bagley at 9:30 a.m. and start walking at 9:45 a.m. to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for a meeting at 10:00 am and light lunch . Speaker will be Ellie Cox, the MCCL Legislative Associate.On Saturday, January 24, Bemidji will host a March for Life. Meet at noon at the Beltrami County Courthouse to join the march. Invocations and speakers before and after the march. Soup and sandwich lunch will follow at St. Philip’s Social Hall.

Samhold Lutheran Church Annual Meeting is on: February 8th, 2026 following the 10:30 AM Worship Service; the annual meeting will begin.
Our Saviors Lutheran Church Annual Meeting is on January 25 2026, following 11 am worship. Potluck to follow. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be moved to February 9th.
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Annual Meeting will be January 18, 2026 at noon following 11:00 am worship. Lunch to follow provided by the Youth. In the event of inclement weather meeting will be moved to February 1.

Ole thought that the dryer made his clothes shrink, but it turns out it was the refrigerator. He also liked putting on warm underwear fresh out of the dryer. Plus, it was fun to look around the laundromat and guess who they belong to.
If you think you are smarter than the previous generation… 50 years ago the owner’s manual of a car showed you how to adjust the valves. Today it warns you not to drink the content of the battery.
I watched the Minnesota Vikings win their last football game of the season on Sunday. There is one former Viking Adam Theilen who will be playing more football next week. He was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers and they won by two points to advance to next week’s playoff against Texas. He is a Detroit Lakes native.
