Cadet World Series Brings Summer Recreation to Exciting Finish!

The Cadet League World Series was held on Wednesday, July 22nd. Ten teams (Bagley Gold, Bagley Maroon, Clearbrook-Gonvick, Fertile-Beltrami, Fosston Maroon, Fosston White, Red Lake County Central, Red Lake Falls, Win-E-Mac Blue, Win-E-Mac Red) came to Kloster Park in Clearbrook to play for the 2015 Cadet League World Series Championship.
Regular season Division Champions and Runner ups were recognized and received awards. The Northwest Champion was Win-E-Mac Red and the Runner-up was Red Lake Falls. Clearbrook-Gonvick was the Southeast Champion and Fosston White took Runner-up honors.
The opening rounds saw Red Lake County Central defeat Bagley Gold, 7-1 and WEM Blue defeat Bagley Maroon 10-6. The quarter finals had one upset with RLCC defeating Clearbrook-Gonvick, 3-1, in a well-pitched game. The higher seeds held their own in the remaining quarter finals with Red Lake Falls defeating Fosston Maroon, 10-3, Fosston White pulling off a comeback win over Fertile-Beltrami, 6-5 in extra innings and WEM Red beating WEM Blue, 12-2. Number 4 seed RLCC continue their upset wins with a thrilling 9-7 defeat of RLF. Fosston White also gained a berth in the Championship game with a 3-0 win over WEM Red.
In the Consolation round, Fertile-Beltrami defeated Bagley Gold, 3-2, and Fosston Maroon downed Bagley Maroon 7-4. FB followed up with a solid 12-6 win over WEM Blue while CG rebounded from their tough opening loss to defeat Fosston Maroon, 7-4. FB & CG squared off in the Consolation Championship game and Fertile-Beltrami captured the title with an 11-4 victory.
The Third place game featured Red Lake Falls and Win-E-Mac Red. A good battle ensued with RLF capturing the 3rd place medals with a 6-3 win.
In the championship game, Fosston White continued their excellent play and defeated the Cinderella RLCC team, 7-3.
